Clutter and Web Bookmarks

Running a search on organization or clutter in a search engine returns millions and millions of webpages. There are countless books, blogs, and even magazines out there dedicated to helping people get a handle on the clutter in their lives, to make their homes, offices, and computers easier to navigate. Clutter is the enemy, whether in a closet, a file cabinet, or an email in box.

While there are tons of television shows designed to helping hoarders and clutterbugs clear their homes, garages, and even offices, it’s not as glamorous to watch someone clean out an inbox or worse, clear out their web bookmark s. There are tips out there for these tasks, and there may even been demo videos somewhere. It’s just not the stuff of broadcast TV. However, removing clutter from one’s digital life is just as important as removing it from the physical environment.

Web bookmarks may seem like an irrelevant area when focusing on a clutter-free life, but is it really? Most people have bookmarks stored in multiple locations. They have web browsers on home and work computers with lists of favorites stored in each. They may have emails or chat logs that they have saved because someone sent them a cool link through it. They may even have social bookmarking account that they use to collect even more bookmarks. When it comes time to find a specific link, they have to check all those different places — and maybe some social networking site where they may have seen a link. Putting all those web bookmarks in a single place with a simple, organized system and periodically removing dead or irrelevant links, i.e., clutter, is a much better way to function online.

Kids & Halloween

Despite recent trends away from sanctioning official celebrations of Halloween in favor of “harvest” festivals in schools and communities across the US, there still remains a special connection between kids and Halloween. Sure, it’s the only time of the year they get to go door-to-door to ask for treats, but there’s more to it than that. For young people haven’t yet figured out who they are and who love to play, Halloween is the perfect holiday.

The trick in “trick or treat” has been downplayed in recent years, but haunted houses still provide kids the chance to play with things that scare them. There are also pumpkins to be carved, apples to be bobbed for, corn mazes to be traversed, and plenty of Halloween themed games and activies to enjoy.

Best of all, there’s the opportunity to explore different ideas of who a child wants to be. Many kids pick a profession to dress up as or a superhero or film character whose traits they want to emulate. Whether they are drawn to romantic beauty and the beast costumes or scary zombies or athletic superstars, Halloween gives kids the chance to be someone new every year.

Some Home Improvement Should be Done by Professionals

It’s quite evident that home improvement is one of the fast-growing areas of interest in the United States. Just turn on a television. Where two decades ago there were a few remodeling shows on PBS, today there are entire cable networks devoted to home improvement and decorating. Add to this the wealth of “do it yourself” websites, magazines, and books, and it seems that nearly everyone wants to improve their home in some way.

There’s very little danger in following the instructions on a blog, pamphlet or tv show to do minor home repairs and even decorating projects. Things like installing tile, painting a room, or installing window blinds can easily be accomplished by almost anyone. Those who are bit more handy can even attempt larger projects like installing cabinets or tackling minor plumbing. However, there are many projects that should be left in the hands of qualified professionals.

Relying on California solar installers or professional electricians isn’t just about keeping the construction industry going. Major projects are very complex and may involve thousands of minute adjustments that only experienced installers will understand. Large projects may require permits and inspections by local government agencies. Some may even require licensed or certified professionals in order to past inspection. All of this is best handled by qualified builders, plumbers, and electricians.

The Process of Qualifying for SSD Benefits

Approximately 30% of workers will one day experience a life-altering disability. This can take the form of a severe injury, medical condition, or illness that renders them unable to work. In these cases, the individual will consider applying for Social Security Disability benefits. They need to understand that the process can be long and difficult, which is why many turn to a social security disability lawyer to assist them with their claim.

To qualify for SSD benefits, a workers needs to have paid into Social Security for a time period long enough to amass enough work credits. Those that have reached the required level are considered “insured” and may file a claim. In addition to understanding how to calculate the necessary credits, applicants must also meet income, age, marital status, and work history requirements and meet certain medical standards regarding their disability. Next they have to prove that they are unable to return to their previous work due to the disability AND that said disability prevents them from adapting to new work. They must also meet time requirements for how long they have been disabled and how long they will continue to be disabled.

If the worker doesn’t feel the need for an attorney during this arduous process, they may need to hire one if their claim is denied, and many claims are. Applicants are entitled to appeal the Social Security decision and many will turn to a lawyer at this point, if they hadn’t previously.

Potential home owners should consider taking community courses in home ownership or workshops that are specifically designed to explain the mortgage system. There are also many books and web guides available to help individuals understand the financial risks and the process of obtaining a mortgage . After this process is completed, consumers will have a very good idea of the type and term of mortgage that will best suit their needs and their current and projected financial situation. This knowledge will be crucial as they begin to research mortgage companies which range from banks, to mortgage brokers, to online mortgage lenders. The best mortgage loan is going to be different for each individual or couple and it becomes their job to seek out and find the best mortgage for themselves.

When your child is ready to graduate from a crib to a big kid’s room , there are a number of decisions to be made. The best decision you can make at this point is to design a room not just for the next stage of you child’s development, but one that can grow and adapt as he does.

It’s very important to let the child have some input into the room. As long as budget and safety are in line, there’s no reason not to give into requests for favorite character bedding. You’ll want to keep the basic room neutral and use bedding and accessories that fit his or her preferences. This way you can easily change them out as the kid grows and developes new interests and hobbies.

The focal point of the room is going to be the bed. There are many options to choose from. If you’re thinking of having another child a bunk bed may be a good investment. Likewise if you foresee lots of sleep overs. An alternative to consider is trundle bunk beds which will suit both situations. Bunk beds don’t need to be just for boys. Color choices and bedding can make them appropriate for girls as well.

Make sure to think about future needs like desks, larger dressers, and flexible storage options rather than just a standard toy box. It’s okay to buy some things that are appropriate to this age, just make sure they are things that can be changed out without disrupted the overall room design.

Now that the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 has gone into effect, anyone working or seeking to work in the mortgage industry in Illinois must comply with SAFE requirements. The state’s division of banking oversees the licensing of all mortgage brokers and mortgage loan originators. Those wishing to transfer their current license to the new system or obtain a license for the first time need to consult with the IL Division of Banking or authorized organizations.

While the SAFE Act was predominantly concerned with creating and maintaining a federal register of qualified mortgage loan originators, the states still require licensing before brokers and loan officers are allowed to interact with borrowers. Only those that meet state licensing requirements can be added to the NMLS database. They must also pass SAFE testing to the satisfaction of both the state and the federal systems. Required Illinois mortgage Broker training will help individuals prepare for the tests as well as walk them through the process for meeting all state and federal requirements.

Anyone offering mortgage services in Illinois must have the appropriate license and be in good standing with the Division of Banking. Origination of loans or offering mortgage broker services without a valid license is subject to both state and federal enforcement.

Negotiating Health Insurance for Traveling

One element of travel insurance that is often overlooked is health insurance. When traveling within the United States , your regular health insurance should cover you, though it never hurts to double check before you pack your bags. However, when you’re traveling to a foreign country, especially overseas, you should take the time to consult with insurance agencies to discuss your options.

There are a lot of different visitors insurance policies out there. Start by considering your specific risk factors. Ongoing health conditions, medical prescriptions, age, and overall state of health will all factor into the type of policy you. Women will have different health issues then men, especially if they are pregnant or traveling with small children.

Another important factor to keep in mind when choosing health insurance is the activities you plan to engage in during your trip. The risks associated with business travel are quite different than climbing mountains or participating in contact or extreme sports.

Lastly you’ll need to consider how long your trip will last and if it will involve more than one country. It’s best to plan for the longest comfortable length of time since travel delays do happen. You’ll also want to account for the fact that although you’re planning to visit one country, you may take a side trip to a neighboring nation. And, of course, someone traveling for a few weeks or a month will have very different needs than someone going on a long-term work or study program.

Web Hosting for Beginners

When you’re designing your first website, whether for your business, hobby, family, or interest group, you may feel overwhelmed by the options out there. Do you go with a hosted blog from a cookie cutter site or start from scratch? If you’re doing it all on your own, where do you find the pieces to put it all together? There are a number of good web site hosting companies out there that will hold your hand through the process, from choosing a domain to adding a blog, shopping cart, or special video features.

Once you have decided on a domain and have an idea of the size and features for your site, you need to choose web hosting that will fit those needs. Hosting packages can include domain registration or you can register your domain with a separate company and follow their instructions for linking it to your host company.

The most important factors in choosing a hosting company are capacity and expandability. This determines how much memory your site needs, i.e., how large it is. It also refers to the amount of bandwidth it will need, or how many people will be accessing the site and requiring the host to show them the site at the same time. Bandwidth is affected by the complexity of the underlying source code . Adding special scripts for shopping carts, videos, or interactive features requires larger bandwidth than a simple informational page.

Being able to expand both the size and bandwidth of a site as your needs grow is important. Find a hosting company that fits your current budget but also gives you the option to upgrade to better packages or add on additional features as needed in the future.

Killer Free Apps for iPad

Released in early 2010, the iPad has taken the tech world by storm. By utilizing the same OS as the older iPhone, Apple doubled the market for the iPhone apps that users have come to rely on and love. Of course, many of these required slight adjustments to take advantage of the iPad’s larger screen.

It’s become clear that while iPad users are happy to purchase apps through Apple, there are some amazing free apps being released by iPad application developers . Some of the top ones are listed below.

Netflix has an app that lets users view every streaming video from their library. All you need is a subscription to Netflix, which most people already have for their game player, DVR, or blue ray machine, though some actually still watch old school on their computers or, gasp, by getting a DVD sent to their home.

iBooks is the no-brainer free app. It provides the e-book reader that was the main reason many people bought the iPad. It also offers access to Apple’s iBookstore so that users can sample books and then purchase and download them automatically. Special features include a dictionary, a two-page layout, and the ability to highlight text.

Kindle e-book reader is a must for anyone who wants access to Amazon’s Kindle Store, which has a few more titles than Apple.

Other popular free iPad apps include the ABC(Television) Player, the Epicurious “cook’s companion” and Twitterific for accessing Twitter through your iPad.
