New Orleans Newest Cuisine
New Orleans is a city that thrives on its people and their cultures, absorbing the different traditional foods and incorporating them into the city’s own culture. Louisiana’s ability to accept different ethnicities and adapt to the diverse land was key to its survival. French, Germans, Acadians, Africans and Native Americans were the people who worked together to create places to live.
However, it was the food collaboration which became the most important part of making Louisiana not just a place to live, but a place to relish and celebrate. Early settlers learned how to produce and use native foods while introducing their own techniques and flavors, in turn creating one of the best cuisines in the world: Cajuns and Creole.
In 2005, after New Orleans was devastated by Hurricane Katrina , the city became dependent Latin Americans from Mexico and Central America who moved to the city to help rebuild and repopulate the city by settling in New Orleans. Suddenly, a great need for authentic Latin American food arose creating a need for new stores, five star New Orleans hotels and restaurants. Due to a very high demand for Latin foods, the food truck phenomenon has arrived in New Orleans serving the populace with the freshest tacos, burritos and tamales, Creole style.
