Cancun is a place where visitors come to feel as though paradise were within reach. It’s one of the most beautiful expanses of sea in the region, where the color of blue is so bright and unusual, that it almost seems like it’s another planet. For many people, it is really another planet, and like Las Vegas, one of the towns to visit and really let loose. For most, however, a stay in luxury Cancun hotels is all about the pleasure of relaxation.

The time spent by the ocean might be the most wisely-spent moments of the year. There can be crowds, certainly, but even with that, it has a soothing effect that can’t be matched. The restaurants are all fairly decent, some are very upscale, but the cocina familiares are definitely worth looking into. This is where the locals eat, and that’s always a good sign. Sometimes it takes a tougher stomach, and a careful eye to avoid contact with any tap water, but the dishes can be delicious.

For excursions on the town, it’s hard to miss Mercado 28 . This is one of the most popular anywhere, and the curious tourists can find an enormous array of gifts to take home. Some of these are the cheap plastic kind that are fairly reasonable, and others are made by artisans, and deserve a good price. There are also plenty of items that look like they’re hand-made, but are actually mass-produced. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, however, so any purchase can be wise if one takes a bit of time to look around and check the prices.
